TEPHI wastewater data

  • Measles has been detected in Austin
  • Low levels of H5N1 Influenza have been detected in the Houston site
  • SARS-CoV-2 is beginning to rise in wstewater

Measles

  • We’re up to 1300 cases this year – more than any year since 2000
  • Cases in Canada are even higher (3800 mostly in infants and children)
  • Canada has 1/8 the population of the US and 3x as many cases
  • The Canadian epicenter is in Alberta with the highest cases per capita (Ontario and Manitoba follow)
  • In Ontario, Measles is spreading largely among Menonites – while some in that community are accepting vaccination, vaccine misinformation is spreading faster than the disease. Sigh

COVID

  • COVID levels are rising rapidly in airport wastewater.
  • In travelers, the dominant strain is XFG (52%)
  • While actual COVID cases are highest in Texas and Oklahoma, Florida and Alabama have the highest wastewater levels suggesting that we will soon see more cases in those two states

H5N1

  • Bird Flu is a rapidly mutating virus. It seems all but inevitable that it will cause our next pandemic
  • Contrast that idea with RF (Lysenko) Kennedy ending Moderna’s development of a vaccine for that virus
