Today’s H-alpha image shows ongoing prominence activity along the sun’s NE limb. There is activity along the NW limb as well with a distinct plume of sun stuff headed outward toward the solar corona. The other limbs show only minor prominence activity.

The corresponding sunspot image shows a new active region near the sun’s eastern limb – AR4252. The older region near the western limb, AR4246, is fading. Active region AR4251 is only vaguely visible. There is a distinct dark area in the mid-southern disk that is visible in NASA’s image as well but does not have an AR designation. In the image below, I have marked it with a question mark.
