Here is Dr. Kloman’s week 314 video address. My summary notes are:

TEPHI Wastewater Data

  • Measles was detected at three Texas sites a week ago, but there were no reported cases at those sites
  • Noro- and Rota virus (GI viruses) levels are elevated
  • Human metapneumovirus and Influenza B (respiratory viruses) levels are also elevated
  • COVID levels continue low

Measles

  • Nationally, we continue to have cases, and the total thus far in 2026 is 1487 cases
  • 5% of those cases required hospitalization; there have not been any deaths so far
  • Only nine of those cases can be attributed to international travel
  • This year, there have been 14 US outbreaks so far; in all of 2024 there were only 16
  • In 2025, there were 48 outbreaks and 90% of the cases occurred in those outbreaks

Influenza

  • Last week there were 14 more pediatric deaths due to Influenza
  • Thus far this season the total is 115 pediatric deaths
  • Influenza A cases are decreasing, but Influenza B activity varies by region

COVID

  • COVID activity remains low
  • There is no dominant strain at this time; instead, there are three XFG strains that predominate
  • A study of death certificates reviewed by AI concludes that prior reports of COVID deaths underestimated COVID mortality by 19% – 1.4M US COVID deaths rather than 1.2M

Public Attitudes

  • Americans’ trust in their government’s vaccination recommendations has fallen from71% in 2025 to 60% in 2026
  • When Americans rate their health concerns, heath care cost is #1, Guns, Opiates, etc. follow. Pandemic concerns don’t emerge at all.

The government’s web sites have been scrubbed of topics and words that the current regime finds unacceptable. These include mentions of DEI as well as pandemic preparedness and many other topics. Because the COVID pandemic is now in the rear-view mirror, the public has moved on as if another pandemic is not possible.
