Today’s H-alpha solar disk shows four active regions best represented by their plages; AR4504 is new. There are small prominences along the sun’s SE and NW limbs. The SW limb shows a thin filament approaching the limb that may give us impressive prominences in the days to come.
The corresponding sunspot image is very noisy probably as a result of my detuning the first of the two etalons.
The prominence cameos appear below. Note the delicate filament extending from a large, dark (cold) zone in the sun’s southwest quadrant. We may see some prominences as the filament passes over the solar limb to the sun’s far side.
