We are on a planetary starship, Earth, and today I have completed yet another orbit around our star – Sol. I have no idea how many millions of miles we have spanned across the edge of the Milky Way galaxy this time, but it must be many. The Milky Way itself has been hurtling through space. Wow, what a mess!

I want to take this moment to thank my friends from both the real world and in cyberspace for their birthday wishes and good tidings. When I was a depressed and morose teen, I could never have imagined living to the age of 75. I went to the CDC website today to look for longevity tables, and I learned that American Hispanic males of my age can expect an average of 11.6 additional years of life. I told my brother that I hope that I am not below average.

For dinner, I bought two, 4oz, Canadian lobster tails and six oysters Rockefeller. I grilled the oysters while Susan steamed the lobster tails. The servings looked like this:

I have to say that the lobster, butter and baguette were the highlights of this birthday dinner. The oysters were well below my expectations. I cook Cajun grilled oysters at least once a month. The recipe is one that I gleaned from Guy Fieri’s DDD – freshly shucked oysters grilled with a topping of chopped parsley with a squirt of lemon butter, topped with shredded parmesan cheese.

These oysters didn’t pass muster or perhaps I am just getting old – I am 75 now, after all.
