The sky was transparent this afternoon; it has become partly cloudy this evening. Below is today’s H-alpha narrowband image of the solar disk. There are many plages around the active regions, and there is some prominence activity along the sun’s western limb.

In the broader band image, the sunspots are presented more clearly. There is a plage visible around sunspot group AR3938. Such details aren’t often seen with the filters tuned to showcase the sunspots.

The biggest prominences today are along the sun’s western limb. Smaller prominences are visible along the eastern and southern limbs.
