Today’s H-alpha image shows many complex filaments (dark lines that are prominences seen against the hotter chromosphere). There are bright plages around the active regions including a new one close to the eastern limb around active regions AR4012 and AR4013. There is still a lot of prominence activity along both eastern and western solar limbs.

In the sunspot image, we see eight active regions including AR4011, AR4012, and AR4013 that have just recently emerged from behind the sun’s eastern limb.

The eastern prominences are highlighted in the first gallery below, and the western prominences are highlighted in the second one. The eastern limb and northwestern prominences all show plumes of sun stuff high above the chromosphere.
