There was no solar photoshoot yesterday due to both clouds and errands. Last night we had a nice thundershower and today was mild and clear. Today’s H-alpha image shows dramatic prominences and filaments.

The sunspot image is very different from that of two days ago. Most of the small sunspot groups have disappeared – only three are left, and two of them will soon disappear to sun’s far side.

The most dramatic prominences are along the NE, East, and W-NW limbs. The NE limb sports several arches of sun stuff. The East limb shows us a dark filament that is revealed as a prominence at the sun’s rim. The W-NW region shows us an immense arch of solar plasma glowing high above the solar chromosphere stretching from high in the NW to near the mid-west solar rim.
