Today’s H-alpha image shows some prominence activity along the sun’s NW and W limbs. Active region AR4278 is better represented by its associated plages than by the sunspots themselves.

The sunspot image shows the seven active regions seen on NASA’s image including the new AR4279. The sunspots of AR4278 are too small and faint to be seen here.

The prominences along the sun’s western limb are showcased below.
