We see crows here from time to time, but they are not a constant fixture of our micro-ecology. I suspect that they are migrants on their way from here to there. They are very intelligent creatures, I have read. When we visit RMNP, they are well represented.
This afternoon, this fellow or gal came to light on our bare Elm tree as Susan and I sat on the deck sipping a glass of wine. Susan called out to it, but there was no response. Then I decided to try, and I called out, “Caw, caw, Ca-Caw.” Not only did the crow answer, but a second crow came to join it near its perch. And, just like that, we went from attempted murder to murder most fowl. I see a Grand Jury in this bird’s future.
