My elder brother retired at the end of last month, and Susan and I decided to visit him this past weekend to celebrate the event. He had practiced Pediatrics for 53 years – the most recent 48 in Corpus Christi, Texas. We drove there on our favorite coastal route, and when it was time for a pit stop and a gas fill-up, we stopped outside Gonzales on the road to Cuero. I had actually intended that we would stop at the Texan Market outside Cuero, but so it goes.

After I filled the gas tank and we both made our own pit stops, I waited outside the convenience store. In the store window, I noticed a sign for Dos Pendejos seasonings. Pendejo is the Spanish word for fool, idiot, dipshit, asshole; in case you didn’t already know.

We got to Corpus, had a very nice visit with my brother and sister-in-law, and headed back home the following morning. On the way home, we stopped in Cuero at the Texan Market. I had told Susan that they probably had Pendejos in Cuero. Pendejos are never in short supply, I assured her. I was wrong. We had a good pit stop and refueling, but there were no Pendejos to be had. Alas!

Further along our journey home, we came to Gonzales, and I pulled into the convenience store on its outskirts so that we might look for Dos Pendejos seasonings. Success! I purchased their seasonings for steak & burgers, BBQ, and seafood. I love it when a plan comes together – as the A-Team leader Hannibal used to say.

Tonight, I grilled a gigantic, boneless ribeye that was lightly dusted with the Steak Pendejada and otherwise prepared in the usual way with Montreal Steak Seasoning. The side was an ear of roasted yellow corn. Supper was yummy. See below.

Here’s the window advert for Dos Pendejos Seasonings at the Shell station/Market outside Gozales, Texas. Our reflections are in the window, of course.

    1. You know there is a Tsingtao beer made in China. That’s pretty close to Chingada.

Para que no estén chingando o saliendo con chingaderas. 😂
