Morning begins with coffee or, so it has been, for us the last forty years. When we were last at the grocery store a couple of days ago, Susan reminded me to get coffee. I got a bag of Starbuck’s Italian Blend. Susan asked me whether it was ground, and I dutifully squeezed the bag with both hands. I replied that it was.

This morning, I asked for coffee, and Susan went out to the kitchen. She came back shorty to inform me that I had bought coffee beans. Shit!

She left to find ground coffee at the store. I took my meds with water, showered, and joined the rest of the family in the kitchen-dining area. The Rocky Mountains appeared glorious in the backyard, but it was cold and windy out. It looked like this.

Susan arrived shortly and made coffee. Nico and family left for a trip to Beaver Meadows and parts within RMNP. Susan and I stayed home to enjoy coffee. Later, we all met up at the Big Horn Restaurant for lunch. It looked like this.

After lunch, Susan and I headed for the glassblower’s shop nearby. Nico, Lydia and the kids went a bit further to see the rubber duck races on Fall River. The girls seemed to enjoy it.

We met up at the glassblower’ studio and shop where the girls got to see a master glassblower create a dish from start to finish. They were enthralled.

The kids were almost mesmerized by the glassblower’s work. So were we.

Then we went our separate ways and later met up at the house for dinner. We made chalupas and flour tacos. The grandkids preferred flour tacos over tostadas, but they ultimately ate the latter as chips and salsa.

I spent the remainder of the evening tending the fire in the den while watching a TNT Star Wars marathon. It was good for me.

  1. Sounds perfect. Glass blowing is one of the most beautiful activities to watch. I’m glad the little girls could see that.
